View, analyze and process satellite images.

BEAM is an open source program that you can download as a development platform designed for the visualization, analysis and processing of satellite images or images that show Earth's surface taken remotely.

Initially, BEAM was created as a tool to facilitate image processing from Envisat optical instruments. But today, BEAM is prepared to work with other image formats such as GeoTIFF or NetCDF. BEAM also works with images from other appliances for Earth observation, such as MODIS, CHRIS, PRISM, AVNIR, AVHRR, etc.

The project includes various components such as BEAM VISAT, the program itself for viewing satellite images, and a long list of scientific tools written in Java.

NOTE: The current version of BEAM is for 32-bit systems, but from the author's website you can download the appropriate version for 64-bit systems.

NOTE: From the website you can also download a free version of BEAM for Mac OS and Linux.
